Cold Tomorrow

The winds have been howling all day today, and are just the beginning of what promises to be a big change come tomorrow. The cold front now just north and west of Denver will be working its way through the area in the next hours - and behind it temperatures will be some 30 degrees cooler tomorrow than they were today. Cooler temperatures appear to be the big headline with this front, as limited moisture will only give us a 20% chance of shows in the next 24 hours.

After possibly hitting the freezing mark for the first time this year early Friday morning, temperatures will begin to moderate a bit as we move into the weekend. It does not look like we will be returning to the 80s any time soon...

Looking Ahead...

Highs will soar into the mid 80s on Tuesday... and by Wednesday night we could be looking at a cold rain/snow mix similar to last week's weather. Thursday will remain cool with highs only managing the low 50s before a slow warm up into next weekend.

Rocky Forecast

Tonight's game promises to build cold - and probably soggy. The National Weather Service released their afternoon forecast discussion in the last hour which calls on precipitation continue for most of northeastern Colorado into this even before tapering off late tonight.. only to return tomorrow. With any luck at all showers (rain and snow) will stay just west and south of Denver as the Rockies get underway this evening, but at this point radar shows showers stretching from western Adams County south into Douglas... right over Coors Field. The one thing forecasters are certain about is that the Colorado Rockies will walk away with a definitive win this evening, furthering their commanding lead in the NL Wild Card hunt.

Winter Storm Watch!

Okay... not for Denver... But ALMOST! The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the foothills and areas to our south as close as Castle Rock! The forecast is calling for 4 - 8 inches for areas above about 6500 feet in elevation tonight and tomorrow. Denver will likely just get a rain/snow mix tonight - and be all rain tomorrow. Stay tuned in case things change!

Big Changes Brewing

While the first day of Fall is not officially until Tuesday, Monday will feel more like Fall than Summer. Over the last several days forecasters have continued to lower the expected highs on Monday as they continue to tweak the forecast details. As it stands, it looks like we will struggle to make it out of the 50s, and lows will dip into the upper 30s for the first time in quite awhile. Clouds and rain are also looking likely for Monday - but it remains unclear how long the soggy weather will stick around as some models have the low moving through much fast than others. From Monday on there is a general warming trend, the exact track of the low will determine how quickly this occurs. At this point it does not appear that 80s will be returning any time next week.

It shouldn't get cold enough for snow here in Denver. Travel 20 miles west and that could be a completely different story. Looks like this cold front will bring the first blast of winter weather for the Mountains and even some foothill locations.

Feels Like Fall

Temperatures have hovered in the low 50s all afternoon, and in the last hour or so the rain has picked up in intensity and coverage. Tonight we will dip into the lower to mid 40s before rebounding a bit tomorrow. This is a quick taste of the changing seasons, and a sign that more cool and rainy days are not too far off.

Next week looks mild with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s for the most part. A slight chance of showers will remain in the forecast each day.
